Alliance Family Health Center Receives Federal Award, Begins Construction on New Hartville Campus in Partnership with GentleBrook

Alliance Family Health Center has received a federal award and begun building its new Hartville Campus on GentleBrook’s campus, expected to open in summer 2027.

Alliance Family Health Center (AFHC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a New Access Point (NAP) award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), marking a transformational milestone for the organization and its continued commitment to expanding access to high-quality, affordable health care.

The federal award will support the development of Alliance Family Health Center – Hartville Campus, a new health center location at 880 Sunnyside St. SW, Hartville, Ohio 44632. Construction is now underway, bringing AFHC one step closer to establishing a permanent presence in the Hartville community. The new location is currently anticipated to open in summer 2027.

“This is an incredibly exciting moment for Alliance Family Health Center and a vision that has been years in the making,” said Amelia Kocher, CEO of Alliance Family Health Center. “Receiving the New Access Point award gives AFHC the opportunity to bring the community health center model to Hartville and expand access to care for residents throughout the surrounding area. Seeing construction begin makes this dream very real, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped us reach this point.”

AFHC and GentleBrook: A Partnership Focused on Community

The Hartville Campus is being developed through a significant partnership between Alliance Family Health Center and GentleBrook, bringing together two community-focused nonprofit organizations with a shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of the people they serve.

The future health center will be located on GentleBrook’s campus at 880 Sunnyside St. SW in Hartville. GentleBrook’s partnership and investment in the development of the site have been instrumental in making the project possible and creating a long-term home for AFHC in the Hartville community.

“I am excited to welcome Alliance Family Health Center to our campus,” said James Miller, CEO of GentleBrook. “There is a strong alignment between our organizations and our commitment to serving the community. We believe AFHC will be a wonderful addition to the Hartville community and a great partner for GentleBrook.”

“GentleBrook has been an extraordinary partner throughout this process,” Kocher said. “From the beginning, there has been a shared vision for what this campus can mean for Hartville and the surrounding communities. This is much more than the construction of a new building—it is an investment in the health of the community and in ensuring that individuals and families have access to high-quality care close to home.”

As construction progresses, AFHC and GentleBrook look forward to watching the shared vision for the campus take shape and ultimately welcoming patients into the new facility in 2027.

New Access Point funding is awarded through HRSA’s Health Center Program to expand comprehensive primary health care services in communities where additional access is needed. For AFHC, the award represents a major milestone in the organization’s growth and strengthens its ability to expand its mission into a new community.

“For the past decade, AFHC has grown by listening to our patients, our partners and our communities and responding to where the needs are greatest,” Kocher added. “The Hartville Campus represents the next chapter of that commitment. We are honored to have the opportunity to become part of the Hartville community, and we look forward to building relationships that will extend far beyond the walls of this new health center.”

AFHC anticipates opening the Alliance Family Health Center – Hartville Campus in summer 2027. Additional information regarding services, construction progress, community partnerships and the official opening will be announced in the coming months.
